Made GroundedGlengrove House is a sensitive restoration of an 1850s stone dwelling, set within the 50-hectare Hillenvale Estate amongst the rolling hills of Kangarilla. The project transforms this historic structure into a contemporary family home that balances the integrity of heritage preservation with bold architectural and interior interventions.
In collaboration with our heritage builder, Fabrikate approached the restoration as an act of reinstatement—returning the home to its original prominence as a landmark within the landscape. Every stone from the original retaining walls was carefully salvaged and reused, with each design decision guided by the site’s inherent character rather than imposed upon it.
The design moves beyond conventional country home restoration, introducing unexpected elements that honour the building’s 175-year history while creating spaces for contemporary living and gathering. Hillenvale is both estate and residence—a structure given renewed purpose through commitment to place, materiality, and the potential of layered time.

It captures the character of the aged buildings while adding warmth, light, and a quiet modernity that fits perfectly within the landscape. The result is a home that feels beautifully resolved — true to Hillenvale’s spirit, but ready for the next chapter.”
